Hello! My name is Natalia Betzler. I am a junior at Tamalpais High School. Over the past three years, I have been playing music at assisted living facilities for residents there. I started the program, Letters of Comfort, at the beginning of quarantine because I realized how residents would not be able to see family or friends anymore due to distance guidelines. This program connects those who seek pen pals with residents and allows them to write back and forth to each other. My friend Alyssa Barkus, who is also a junior at Tamalpais High School, and I have begun expanding our program in recent months. We have sent over 1000 letters to facilities across the United States, and have had a large amount of volunteer applications as well. Although we are excited to continue our work with this program, we have hit a problem that could stop our services. We cannot afford to pay for the amount of supplies (paper, envelopes, mailing fees, etc.) and this is a huge roadblock in our process. We are making this Go Fund me with the hope that we can raise enough money to continue sending letters and connecting residents with our volunteers.
